The alignment between ASAPP's three key focus areas and the South African Reserve Bank's (SARB) seven strategic focus areas highlights areas where ASAPP aims to make a meaningful contribution, emphasising shared goals and opportunities for collaboration.
Leading the evolution of digital payments

Fair Access
ASAPP will advocate for removing barriers that prevent non-banks from directly participating in the National Payment System and seek fair competition conditions in providing merchant-facing PayShap solutions.
Reduced Costs
ASAPP welcomes the SARB’s stated intention to review Interchange, and we stand ready to contribute to that review.

Customer Mobility
ASAPP will advocate for enhanced transparency and consumer choice, enabling customers to make informed decisions and switch providers without undue costs.
